A 37-year-old man is dead after being tased by police while officers were responded to a mental health call in Bedford.
The events unfolded Friday night on Farringdon Way.
Police say the man became aggressive and they used their taser, but a struggle continued until he was eventually put in handcuffs.
“While in custody, the man’s health began showing signs of deterioration. Police began life-saving efforts, including administering naloxone.” Halifax Regional Police said in a media release.
According to the force, paramedics and fire crews continued to try and revive him and took the man to a hospital but he could not be saved.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service will be conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.
The incident has been referred to the Serious Incident Response Team. They are responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police including shootings and deaths while out on calls.
