Rumours have been rampant on social media over the past couple of days that a new Costco location is coming to the Halifax-area.

According to a photo circulating online, Costco is heading to Middle Sackville.

However, what may be a disappointment to many, Councillor Billy Gillis tells our newsroom in an email, that is not yet the case.

“The rumours that Costco is coming to Middle Sackville is not confirmed. It was a concept drawing of what could potentially be developed on that site in the future.”

Gillis adds, there is no water or sewer at the site, and it hasn’t even come before Halifax Regional Council yet.

The idea of the province getting a third location has been circulating for months but a location has not been solidified.

According to Gillis, Armco, the owners of the property in the Margeson Drive area will be releasing a press release Wednesday, about the social media post.
