It’s a big first step for a Nova Scotia hockey rink in its goal to winning a national competition.
The Sackville Arena has nabbed a spot in the top 4 in its pursuit to become Kraft Hockeyville.
This means all of the stories and pictures from the local community helped pushed the Arena to get the points it needed.
The winner gets $250,000 and will host a pre-season NHL game.
The other three finalists each get $25,000 for upgrades.
All four get $10,000 in hockey equipment.
The Sackville Arena has been a community hub for the past 50 years but according a coach for the arena, Chris Fraser, it needs upgrades as well as a second ice sheet to accommodate growing demand from the community.
To win Kraft Hockeyville it is up against Saint -Bonafest in Quebec, Honeywood Arena North Dufferin Community Centre in Ontario and Pete Knight Memorial Arena in Alberta.
Voting opens April 4.
