A woman who died after she was found lying on the ground near Gottingen Street in Halifax, allegedly slipped on ice and fell under a transit bus.

That is according to witnesses, who say she slid under a large vehicle.

Halifax police say it happened around 7 p.m. last Friday night.

Emergency crews found the 40-year-old injured and performed first aid before taking her to hospital where she passed away.

The medical examiner confirmed the woman’s injuries were consistent with the witness’s description.

The investigation is ongoing, but no charges are expected to be laid.
