Lunenburg’s proposed noise bylaw is up for a final vote this evening, with council scheduled to hold its second and final reading at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
The update is intended to replace the town’s current bylaw, which staff say has been too vague to enforce consistently. The proposed version outlines clear criteria for what qualifies as “excessively loud or disruptive” noise.

The bylaw is designed to maintain a balance between community standards and everyday activity. Reasonable daytime noise from construction, marine operations, and businesses would still be allowed — as long as it isn’t overly disruptive.
Although the formal public hearing has already been held, residents can still share feedback during the public input session at the start of tonight’s meeting. A sign-up sheet will be available at the door for those who wish to speak.
