The Canada Strong Pass program is expanding to include provincial and territorial museums and galleries.
Nearly 90 institutions across the country will offer free or discounted admission from now until Sept. 2.
Children aged 17 and under will be able to get in for free, while youth aged 18 to 24 will get half-price admission.
“Museums are where stories are told, art is preserved, and traditions live on. They help shape our understanding of history and culture,” Canadian Identity and Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault said in a news release.
Some provinces, including Nova Scotia, had already been offering these benefits at all provincial museums and galleries before Thursday’s announcement.
These museums are in addition to the national museums in Nova Scotia, Québec, Manitoba and the National Capital Region that are offering the same benefits.
The Canada Strong Pass program also includes free admission and discounts on overnight stays with Parks Canada, as well as free and discounted travel with VIA Rail.
