Over $63 million for Nova Scotia’s infrastructure.
Central Nova MP Sean Fraser announced the funding for municipalities to go toward things like public transit, water systems, and local roads and bridges.
Fraser says municipalities will see the benefits.
“It’s going to have a positive impact on the economy, and communities will use their best judgement on how to deploy this federal investment at the local level,” said Fraser during the announcement Monday at the Halifax waterfront.
Halifax will get about $29 million, and MP Shannon Miedema says there will be strong investments.
“We’ve used this money in the past for things like the Halifax Common pool. Recreation facilities are essential for delivering strong communities. But it doesn’t just cover that,” said Miedema.
The province’s municipal affairs minister John Lohr calls it a great day for Nova Scotia, and each community can address their unique priorities.
