Canadian visits to the United States are down for the fourth straight month, according to Statistics Canada.
The number of Canadians returning from the U.S. by vehicle dropped 35 per cent year over year in April to 1.2 million.
It marked the fourth consecutive month of year-over-year decline, said the latest report from StatCan.
The agency’s monthly report also showed that return trips by air were down by nearly 20 per cent. Return trips from other countries climbed nearly 10 per cent.
There were also fewer Americans crossing the border into Canada, but the drop was not as significant.
StatCan said there were 820,700 U.S. resident trips to Canada, a drop of 10.7 per cent — the third consecutive month of year-over-year decline.
U.S. residents arriving in Canada by air fell by more than five per cent compared to the same month in 2024 to 289,300.
