todayJuly 16, 2025

Background

The province and Ottawa are continuing a partnership to help families of missing and murdered Indigenous people.

The five year deal will see the feds give $2.2 million to Nova Scotia, that’s an increase of almost $800,000 from the previous agreement.

It will provide more funding for a family information liason unit, and the province’s Native Women’s Association for community outreach.

The unit gives specalized support to the families, helps answer questions and make connections.

Federal justice minister Sean Fraser says it’s an essential part of the healing process, and will help more families get the answers they need.
