It’s National Acadian Day.
Celebrations are happening in communities across Nova Scotia.
The province’s Acadian Affairs minister Colton LeBlanc says it’s a significant day for Acadian culture.
“The contributions of Acadians over the last 400 years has helped build up our province, and made it the Nova Scotia that we know today,” said LeBlanc.
The province designated August as Acadian Heritage Month.
LeBlanc who is from Argyle says he’s a proud Acadian, and will be taking in today’s festivities.
“We have so much to be proud of. There was so much excitement last year through the Congres Mondial Acadien, so we want to see that repeat itself today.”
Tintamarre events are happening in Yarmouth, Argyle, Clare, Pubnico, Wedgeport and more.
