Lunenburg County Pride is raising concerns over ongoing hate graffiti along Highway 103, saying there has been little response despite repeated incidents over the past 10 months.

The group says more than 11 instances of hate symbols have been reported since May, many of them linked to the far-right extremist group Diagolon. The vandalism has recently escalated to include anti-immigrant slurs, further adding to concerns.

“These acts create fear and hostility for marginalized communities and undermine the values of inclusivity and safety in Lunenburg County,” the group said in a statement.

The organization is calling on law enforcement to take stronger action, saying those responsible have not been held accountable. They also highlight the financial burden of repeated cleanup efforts.

This is not the first time the issue has been raised. In May 2024, the Department of Public Works responded to similar graffiti, removing multiple Diagolon flags painted on overpasses between Chester and Bridgewater. At the time, Public Works said it was working quickly to remove the symbols and had alerted the RCMP.

Lunenburg County Pride says the persistence of the vandalism shows more needs to be done to prevent it from continuing.
